Meditation

QUIET THE MIND, RELAX THE BODY, CALM THE EMOTIONS,

LET GO, TURN WITHIN, RE-CHARGE

 MEDITATION  YOGA-NIDRA STYLE

'You cannot control what goes on outside, but you can

control what goes on within' - Wayne Dyer

This practice is not physical as the name may suggest. It is a meditation that is done lying down, focusing totally on relaxing the mind and body, and does not involve any yoga poses (asanas).

Yoga Nidra actually means sleep with a trace of awareness, as this practice can take you into a hypnagogic state – the transitional state between sleep and wakefulness – where we are at our most receptive.

Combined with the gentle vibrations of a Singing Bowl, this meditation technique can help to open the deeper phases of our mind – the unconscious and the subconscious – therefore, you don’t have to try hard to concentrate or make any effort to control your mind during this practice. You are gently guided to move your mind from point to point and, if you can, be aware of every experience.

The ultimate aim of this meditation is to achieve total harmony and integration between all levels of consciousness. It provides a means of contacting the source of self-knowledge and inspiration that lies within each of us.

In addition, regular practise also assists in restructuring and reforming your personality from within; help burn old habits and tendencies; result in more clarity, focus, alertness, as well as the ability to cope better in various situations.

Yoga Nidra is done in a systematic way and involves participation of all our senses, one at a time, to create more self-awareness. These include tuning  into different parts of the body to focusing on sounds, tastes, the breath and breathing, as well as various other feelings and sensations, including visualisations.

Just one hour of Yoga Nidra practice is said

to be equal to about 3-4 hours of sleep.
