The spirit is the life of the body seen from within, and the body the outward manifestation of the life of the spirit
- the two being really one.
It’s really overwhelming isn’t it, the number of complementary therapies and healing systems on offer today?
I for one am not familiar with all of them and have only tried some, but know that many of the therapies available today treat similar conditions and are effective in their own way.
For the novice in search of a complementary therapy treatment this can be confusing. So the best advice I can
offer is to go for a therapy that you are drawn to, or been recommended, to see if it resonates with you.
As a therapist, I opted to practice Sekhem energy healing, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage, even though I have studied a few other modalities, because, for one, they are ancient practices that have been around for many centuries:
Sekhem has its origins in ancient Egypt and is said to be one of the oldest hands-on healing energy systems. This is based on evidence discovered in ancient Egyptian scrolls and temples and translated by anthropologists.
Reflexology was practised centuries ago in China and Egypt. Its principles are similar to acupuncture and acupressure as it focuses on the reflex points on the feet that correspond to the various organs, systems and tissues of the body.
Indian Head Massage has its roots in India, going back more than 1,000 years. This practice stemmed from a tradition of family grooming passed down the ages by Indian women who used to massage each other’s hair, sometimes with and sometimes without oil, to encourage strong, healthy, lustrous growth and stimulate the pressure points on the head.
These three therapies combined create a complete holistic package for me, balancing mind, body and emotions, as Sekhem healing works on all layers of our energy body; Reflexology on all the organs, systems and tissues in our physical body and Indian Head Massage on areas where stress builds up in our physical body and higher energy centres (or chakras).
I am also a qualified Meditation Teacher and offer Yoga Nidra-style meditation classes on a one-one-one basis or as a group session.

My first published book!
Life is full of challenges that cannot
be avoided. This is how our journey is
meant to be. If only we could see
such roadblocks as the motivational essence to transform and grow.
The intention behind this book is to
inspire and guide when the going gets tough and to provide a broader
perspective on how to see beyond problems and the lessons
hidden in them.
